As the jury in his New York hush money trial found him guilty on all 34 charges, Donald Trump declared, “I am a very innocent man.” This made him the first American president in history to be found guilty of a crime.

The defendant was expressionless as the jury delivered its unanimous decision, finding Mr. Trump guilty of fabricating financial documents to conceal a $130,000 payment he made to porn star Stormy Daniels in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election, which was intended to buy her silence regarding a ten-year-old alleged sexual encounter with her—a claim Mr. Trump refutes.
Said to be the first convicted criminal to seek for the presidency, the presumed Republican nominee for the 2024 contest will now face sentencing on July 11—four days before he is expected to accept the party’s nomination in person at the RNC.

Following the decision, Mr. Trump told reporters in the courthouse corridor that the trial was “rigged” and “a disgrace,” and he later said that the “nation was going to hell.”
Since then, he has declared that on Friday morning at 11 a.m. ET, he would have a press conference at Trump Tower.
