The Walt Disney Company has committed an endless string of errors in recent years, the majority of which can be traced back to the company’s evident political inclinations.

Disney chose a war that it is now losing with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The firm produced an astounding amount of bombs, including films from formerly untouchable studios like Pixar and Marvel. Children’s animated films that have included progressive political themes have suffered greatly at the box office. Dramatic failures included even the Haunted Mansion movie, which included a diverse ensemble and was based on a famous theme park attraction.

It has occasionally appeared as though Disney and CEO Bob Iger have finally come to their senses. According to company documents, the company’s political positions could have affected its profitability. Iger also acknowledged that he wished to soften the discourse surrounding its philosophy. However, as of February 2024, Disney could be back at it.

Actress Ayo Edebiri is reportedly being considered by Disney to take Johnny Depp’s place in the long-running and lucrative Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

It seems like a really good concept!

Disney Is About To Commit One Of Its Deadliest Errors

It’s unknown if the movie would be a spin-off or a straight sequel to the last Pirates picture. Disney, however, has little chance of a profitable release given how clear-cut its reasons for wanting to shift are.

Although it is somewhat relieving that Edebiri would not portray Captain Jack Sparrow, Disney’s business strategy has been to make every successful series a female-driven property. Disneyland made a valiant attempt to turn Phoebe Waller-Bridge become the next Indiana Jones before Dial of Destiny crashed and burned. Luke Skywalker was replaced in Star Wars by Rey Palpatine (Skywalker?).

Even if Pirates was already failing, there could yet be hope because Depp played Jack Sparrow. However, as he stated in court, “I didn’t fully get how, that suddenly I was guilty until proven innocent, after that lengthy connection, and quite a successful one, definitely for Disney.”

Disney and Ayo Edebiri’s partnership doesn’t look like it will be nearly as fruitful. However, the business appears committed to figuring out how much money it can lose.
