Tonight’s Spanish Super Cup encounter between FC Barcelona and Osasuna is crucial. Both teams will fight hard in this Saudi Arabian semifinal as it offers a solid chance to win several trophies and a sizable sum of money in the midst of the season.

In this game, Xavi will be extra driven to give it his all in an effort to improve his team’s dismal performance and inspire them to defend the first title he earned with Barcelona the previous season.

The head coach of Barcelona will need to make sure that a few of his important players play well if he wants to win this game. Robert Lewandowski is one such player who may be very important in this kind of situation.

The Pole has not been playing well this season, but due of his past with Osasuna, he will be more motivated for tonight’s game, ES SPORTS has pointed out.

Referee Gil Manzano issued Lewandowski two yellow cards during his first-ever match against Osasuna, forcing him to leave the game early. He was, however, banished for three games—the longest suspension of his career—for his gestures to the referee following the red card.

The previous season, he played Osasuna at Camp Nou, but he was unable to score in that encounter. But on Barcelona’s return to El Sadar earlier in the season, he proved to be the difference-maker as the Catalans prevailed and scored a penalty in the 85th minute of play to claim all three points in the fourth round of La Liga.

Lewandowski will now play Osasuna again, but this time it will be in Saudi Arabia. Even with his dismal performance, he is nearly always included in the starting lineup. He can’t take anything for granted, though, because Xavi now has Vitor Roque as a backup if Lewandowski doesn’t improve quickly.
