In an attempt to shift the focus of the presidential contest back to the former president’s involvement in the U.S. Capitol uprising on January 6, 2021, President Joe Biden’s campaign appeared outside the criminal hush money trial of former President Donald Trump in New York City on Tuesday along with actor Robert De Niro and two former police officers.

For Biden’s staff, which had mostly disregarded the trial since it started six weeks ago and is now hoping to take advantage of its dramatic conclusion, sending the “Goodfellas” actor and the first responders who were in the Capitol on January 6 was a dramatic about-face. Although the Biden campaign was hesitant to support Trump’s claim that his criminal proceedings were the product of politically motivated charges, in the end it made the decision to participate since its message about the importance of the election was having trouble cutting through the intense attention being paid to the trial.

According to a senior Biden advisor, their main purpose was to take advantage of the intense media attention being paid to the court proceedings rather than discuss the trial. Neither De Niro nor the cops made any clear allusions to the scandalous criminal case. However, in a counterpress conference, Trump aides contended that the existence of the Biden team supported the Republican former president’s assertions that his legal actions are motivated by politics.

Michael Tyler, the director of communications for Biden’s campaign, pointed to the courthouse and told reporters, “We’re not here today because of what’s going on over there.” “You’re all here, which is why we are here today.”

The two news conferences that followed were a side show to the primary spectacle taking place inside the courtroom, where closing arguments for the one and only Trump trial that is anticipated to come to trial before the November election were in progress. There are two more that are specifically connected to the Republican’s attempts to avenge his defeat to Democrat Joe Biden in 2020: His attempts to rescind the 2020 presidential election results are the subject of a federal lawsuit in Washington, and he is charged with election meddling in a state lawsuit in Georgia. In those instances, he entered a not guilty plea. In the most recent example, there are claims that he purposefully kept secret papers after leaving government.

A new commercial using Robert De Niro as the narrator that takes aim at Trump’s administration and his aspirations for reelection was published by the Biden campaign last week. He declared on Tuesday that he had joined the cause since it was the only means by which he could “preserve our liberties.”

I’m not trying to frighten you. No, wait—maybe I really do want to frighten you,” De Niro said to the press. “We all take these freedoms for granted. You can kiss them goodbye if Trump wins the presidency again.”

The actor, who portrayed himself as the authentic New Yorker, made fun of Trump’s past of self-promotion and occasionally failed economic endeavours, claiming that he was out to “destroy” the city.

“When he was simply another horrible real estate hustler posing as a big shot, we New Yorkers used to accept him,” De Niro remarked. “I adore this city,” I do not wish to ruin it. In the end, Donald Trump may ruin the entire planet in addition to the city and the nation.

On January 6, former Capitol police officer Harry Dunn and former Washington, D.C., police officer Michael Fanone discussed their personal experiences. Fanone detailed the injuries he sustained at the hands of a group of Trump supporters who were trying to prevent Congress from certifying Biden as the 2020 presidential winner.

“I came here today to remind Americans of the carnage that was unleashed on all of us on January 6, 2021, and what Donald Trump is capable of,” Fanone stated.

The two former cops testified as witnesses in a congressional probe into the violence on January 6, 2021. Following a rally, Trump fans stormed the Capitol, beating and bloodying hundreds of law enforcement officers as the president stayed mute for hours.

“People in America must wake up. Dunn, a former Capitol police officer who unsuccessfully sought office in Maryland, stated, “This is not a drill.”

He went on, “We can’t rely on these institutions to stop Donald Trump.” “To finally beat him, it will require all of us Americans at the polls.”

At the same location outside the courthouse, Trump’s campaign staff members had their own press conference in response to De Niro, the Jan. 6 cops, and the Biden campaign.

The Oscar-winning actor for “The Godfather: Part II” and “Raging Bull,” Robert De Niro, was referred to by Trump’s top campaign adviser, Jason Miller, as “a washed-up actor.” Miller also claimed that the Biden press conference supported Trump’s claims that the trial, like the others the former president is facing, is driven by politics.

Miller stated, “They come up and manufactured a campaign event out of a lower Manhattan trial day for President Trump, after months of stating politics had nothing to do with this trial.”

Trump campaign communications secretary Karoline Leavitt described the Biden campaign as “pathetic” and “desperate and failing,” and said that their actions outside the trial amounted to “a full-blown acknowledgment that this trial is a witch hunt that emanates from the top.”

Nevertheless, Trump has been trying to make the trial an extension of his presidential campaign, even as he and his advisors criticise the prosecution for being politically motivated. Using the court hearings as a platform for fundraising, he has attacked Biden and shown a procession of his own political allies while standing in front of the cameras outside the courthouse.
